Accommodation Services in Nelspruit, Horses in Nelspruit, School in Nelspruit

Kaapsehoop Horse Trails near Nelspruit, school, selfcatering accommodation, Mpumalanga offers horse riding, student and volunteer programmes and horses for sale.

Kaapsehoop Horse Trails is a well-known and peaceful retreat for both horse and nature enthusiast. Christo grew up with a love of horses, and the world they lived in was the only place that really interested him throughout his childhood years. He learnt the equine art at the Mataffin riding school in Nelspruit under Mike Kay and spent his military training years in berede. He began his journey in the equine tourism industry in the historic town of Pilgrims Rest where he was also involved with a friesian breeding programme for carriage work and Nooitgedachts to be used for both riding and nature conservation. In 1994, Christo began the horse trails on the Berlin plantation at Kaapsehoop, returning to the place he lived 15 years prior. He established a trail riding business that today has a well regarded reputation for both the excellent conditions of his animals, the safe riding, the scenery and the soul and passion found in this unique setting. With more than 30 years of trail riding experience, Christo works on a natural horsemanship basis. Extend your visit with mementos or share your experience with gifts with the photo art, books, crafts and souvenirs from Kaapsehoop Horse Trails. An ideal venue for small events such as small weddings, birthday parties, team building and so much more, set against the beautiful backdrop of the mountain range. Our own Gypsy Caravan Café is a popular and favourite meeting place on the exhilarating escarpments’ edge between the Highveld and the Lowveld. These are merely some of the distant destinations that our regulars travel from to visit us. Eccentric Café-keeper and chef, Mike Kay, has many years of hands-on hospitality industry experience. He also has a faithful following from his ownership of and collusion with some of the Lowveld’s most awesome culinary establishments. He’ll also not hesitate to remind you that Nibbles is a naughty small horse’s name (naughty as in always putting its head down to nibble). If you’re fortunate enough to catch him between meals there’s a good chance he’ll join you at your table and recount some lovely stories in his baritone voice from his years’ of culinary-life experience. Other than for its sumptuous fare, long views over the mountains and forest, Gypsy Caravan Café is especially renowned for its great Illy coffee, which provides an ideal opportunity to percolate your precious time away from the big smoke. This is a space to let your mind, like the finest coffee, slowly percolate. Yes, the patio is known as a place of conversation and laughter, irrespective of the time of day. Gypsy Caravan Café is an extraordinary real space dedicated to life’s passions: food, drink, laughter, friendship and companionship, especially since superficiality is the curse of our age. We offer illy coffee, refreshing beverages, nibbles, platters, breakfasts and more.
